  1. I have sent you all a voice email message in response to your draft GLA. Well done in getting as far as you have, but you'll see from my comments that you need to do quite a bit of refining of your plans to make them much tighter and more specific. It's good to see students being ambitious and tackling big issue such as 'power', but I'd strongly advise you to narrow your focus down and devise much more specific research questions, thinking through exactly how you can collect data to answer them from a linguistic point of view. I'm sure it can be done, but the project will succeed better if you take time to think these areas through.
    I hope my comments are useful, and do get back to me for clarification as necessary.
