Week Seven

What we've done:
  • Delegated the decades
  • Signed up to the Special Collections register (to enable us to look at the Redbricks)
  • Selected which issues of Redbrick to analyse
  • Completed paperwork to allow us to take photographs of the newspapers (so we have records that we can refer to for analysis and for decorative purposes for the PowerPoint presentation)
  • Taken photographs of the appropriate pages
  • Set up the slides for the PowerPoint presentation
What we need to do:
  • Decide upon a method of analysing the data. For example, choose linguistic features that we all look for, so that we have a point of comparison for the PowerPoint for all of the decades
  • Complete the analysis
  • Add the data, findings and a conclusion to the PowerPoint presentation and audio clips of narration

  1. This is looking good! It's interesting that you've set up the Powerpoint at such an early stage, but perhaps it helps you to plan and structure your analysis? I would understand any images you use less as 'decorative' and more as informative for the audience about your data - maybe 'illustrative' is more accurate?
Have you noticed obvious differences so far?
Don't forget to look at the v-lecture on data analysis, and at the various units in the textbook which may help too.
And of course you're welcome to come and see me - individually, in pairs or as a whole group - for a chat if you need to; this is in addition to the drop-in session in Week 9. Good luck with the next stages.
